10 Makeup Products To Try This Summer

Summer is almost here sweeties, and I CANNOT wait, because I’ll be taking a few trips! Besides the never ending question “which shoes should I pack?” I have to think about makeup for the hot summer weather. Over the past couple months I’ve tested out 10 makeup products to try this summer.

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog, then you know that in April I spent some time in the Caribbean sun. During my vacation, I did my very first vlog, so of course I had to look great! Plus I love makeup and want to be able to wear in any weather. Most of the 10 makeup products I’m about to mention were all tested while soaking up the sun.

Without further ado, let’s get into these fabulous products.

10 Makeup Products To Try This Summer

  1. NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation: I’ve been wearing this foundation since April, and it’s the only foundation I’ve been wearing in all the photos you’ve seen of me since then. It’s a hydrating foundation, and with my dry skin, I need all the hydration I can get! Nars claims it’s a 16 hours, lightweight, medium-full coverage foundations, all claims I can attest to. It also has a natural skin like finish {no cake face over here}, with radiance, which is perfect for the summer sun. I however do not agree that it is transfer resistant. Over all I really love this foundation and it is in my top three {3}. I’m shade Moorea. I apply my foundation with a wet beauty blender {trust me it works}, right after my serum and spf primer.
  2. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer: A full coverage concealer? Yes please. Ok, fine I don’t need full coverage, but I still enjoy having the option. Mac’s prolong wear, is really that, long wearing. It has a near flawless finish, but when I want to be extra, I use another concealer in addition to this. My only drawback with this concealer is that it dries fast, because its thick, so you gotta work fast! I wear NC42 to highlight my under eyes and nose.10 Makeup Products To Try This Summer
  3. MAC Powder Blush: Before there was highlighter, or rather before it became uber popular,  I had to have blush.  The pop of color and life it gives your face still impresses me to this day. Mac’s blush in Peachtwist is a golden peach blush with a slight shimmer. Which is how I like my blush, with a hint of shimmer. I don’t think I own any blush without shimmer. Peachtwist has been my go to blush recently, significantly because it has a natural finish and goes well with my tan.
  4. SHAYLA x COLOURPOP Luster Dust: Totally new to the makeup party is the collaboration with beauty guru Makeup Shayla and ColourPop Cosmetics. The luster dust in the collection is one of the best highlighters I’ve used. Typically I don’t use powder based highlighters during the Summer, but the formula for this has me contradicting myself. It doesn’t leave my skin dry, neither is it overly glittery, it’s more of a glow. Whatever they cooked up in that lab has me shook every time I apply it. I’m wearing Pose in the photos.
  5. SACHA COSMETICS Buttercup Powder: As I mentioned before, I have dry skin, so hydration is key to great looking makeup for me. In most cases setting powders have dried me out and had my face looking like cabbage patch kids, and let’s not get into flash back. Then came Sacha cosmetics, a brand created in Trinidad with natural ingredients. I’ve heard about them for sometime now, but figured it would be the same ridiculous experience, but girl was I proven wrong! I’ve been able to “bake” and set both my concealer and foundation with this truly translucent powder. By the way I apply it with a damp beauty blender. I’m never going back to anything else!10 Makeup Products To Try This Summer
  6. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Dipbrow Pomade: Listen, I have daily brow struggles. I do not have perfectly arch brows that you can just leave the house without grooming. No ma’am, my brows have been a hot mess and still are. Hopefully with some expert help before my vacation next month, they’ll start behaving. Until then I rely on ABH’s dipbrow pomade, which does the job and then some. It is smudge free, and most important, it’s WATERPROOF, total summer must have! I wear medium brown and have been for years now.
  7. MARC JACOBS Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara: Lately I’ve been experimenting with false lashes and most days it’s a miss for me. I struggle with applying falsies. So on those days that are a miss I pull out my Marc Jacob’s mascara, normally right before I get out of my car. Let me tell you, sometimes I think I’m wearing falsies, yup, that’s how great it makes your lashes look. Especially if you add lash primer before. The brush just gets EVERY lash that you have and makes them pop!10 Makeup Products To Try This Summer
  8. DIOR Rouge Dior Lipstick: I adore a nude lipstick, it just works with almost every look. Dior’s Hypnotic Matte and I have been getting long quite well. It’s a pinky nude by the way, my fave kind of nude. Dior claims that this particular lipstick formula last for 16 hours without streaking or drying out lips. I honestly didn’t watch the clock while wearing it, but I sure ate desserts and it was still there! I scrub my lips and wear a hydrating lip balm prior to any lipstick application, as it helps with getting a creamy application.
  9. DIOR Art Pen Eyeliner: You probably can’t tell from the photos in the post, but more than anything else I really battle with eye makeup, to put it another way, my winged liner mostly end up looking like a 3 year old did it. Somehow Dior has figured out how to make it easier for people like me, with this pen eyeliner. My battles have been minimized by at least 40%. Now All I have to do is figure out how to actually keep my eyes closed while applying the darn thing.
  10. MAC Lipliner: If you’re a nude lipstick lover and you happen to be oozing beautiful melanin, then this lip liner should be in your makeup arsenal. If you follow any black beauty guru, then you’ve heard it’s the the perfect shade and it truly is. I’ve only been on the “Cork” lip liner bandwagon for two months, and is already singing its praises.
  11. BONUS PRODUCT: Makeup Shayla Palette, which is what I’m wearing on my eyes.

In conclusion all these fantabulous products will be in my suitcase for all my summer trips, significantly because they’ve all had my back. My makeup skills have not only improved, but looks flawless, thanks to these fabulous products.

Let me know which product you plan on trying, if any.
