Kuriimii Soft Serve Ice Cream in Philly

Lately it seems that whenever I need to film awesome dessert shops, it rains. However,  I’m not one to turn down the chance to have ice cream, rain or shine. I went to a small nook in China town to check out Kuriimii Soft Serve Ice Cream in Philly. This is not your ordinary soft serve from the ice cream truck in your neighborhood. Kuriimii’s soft serve ice cream has asian infusion and beyond delicious and very flavorful.

So what exactly is soft serve ice cream? In my opinion soft serve is  just yummy melted ice cream. It’s just like ice cream, except with a few big differences. First of all the sweet treat has been around since the 1940’s. It all comes down to air, which the soft serve machine helps with. Air is whipped into the frozen ice cream mixture, at 30-60%, and unless frozen after that, it’s soft serve. With all the air whipped in, soft serve is much warmer than ice cream by ten {10} degrees. Either ways we can all agree that they are both just delicious and will forever be the classic go-to dessert. Well at least it’ll always be my first love, dessert love that is.

Kuriimii soft serve is available in six [6] exotic and did I already mention very delicious flavors. I had them all in small portions of course lol. They offer charcoal vanilla, lychee, taro, orange cream, matcha and my absolute favorite, vegan pineapple. I promise that both the pineapple and orange cream tasted like I was having fruit. Plus as the name suggests there isn’t any dairy in the vegan pineapple. Taro, which is plant based, had a sweet and light nutty flavor, similar to Japanese red bean, which both Qi and I enjoyed. Lychee tasted like candy but wasn’t over the top sweet, I enjoyed it. You already know how I feel about matcha, and they nailed it! Charcoal vanilla, despite the fact that it has charcoal, STILL  tasted like the vanilla I love. Yes, my teeth were black for a while lol.

After my little taste test, I had to have one. I choose the vegan pineapple with coconut and marshmallow toppings. I’m totally having a pineapple and ice cream moment this week. Qi went with taro with oreos and coconut toppings. We were beyond impressed by the flavors and how great everything tasted. To emphasize, I had to take some to my mom, so that she could try it. She loved it and saved some for the next day, just so she could enjoy it back to back.

“From the charming staff {Brian and Alain} to the crazy cool flavors and plethora of toppings, Kuriimii is looking like the next Philly staple”. I couldn’t agree more with that statement.

Kuriimii is most definitely now my favorite spot to go grab a soft serve jawn in Philly.

I’d just like to say a quick thank you to owner for having me. I truly enjoyed your creations!
