Matcha Desserts

Matcha desserts are not only delicious, they have awesome benefits as well. Yes, you read correctly, a dessert with benefits {DWB}!

I went to Chinatown, Philadelphia to check out A La Mousse to try their super yummy Matcha desserts.

First of all, matcha is green tea powder, made in Japan. As mentioned it has quite a few great benefits, such as boosting metabolism, acting as a natural detoxifier, relaxes the body and more. Most of which I can attest to, because I consume matcha at least three times a week for those reasons.

A La Mousse uses culinary flare inspired by Asian culture to recreate traditional desserts and confections. In my opinion they have done a great job in achieving this.

I ordered the matcha mousse cake, which came with matcha ice cream. In addition to that, I tried the sizzling ice cream, which came with a matcha brownie. I also tried the small harvest bowl.

To be completely honest, I couldn’t eat it all {lol}, hence I took my mousse cake home. I must say though that I really enjoyed my matcha ice cream, it was smooth, flavorful and creamy. On the other hand, the caramel ice cream had nuts {I don’t eat nuts} in it, which I didn’t enjoy.

So let’s talk about the matcha mousse cake, the dessert that brought me instant gratification, but on repeat. It’s probably two or three nights later while watching ‘The Flash”, when I decided to finally try it. There I am in the kitchen, spoon in hand, diving in and boom my taste buds are awaken! I’ve had matcha cake with white chocolate before, because I’ve made it, but never with mousse.

It seemed like the more I tried to stop eating, the more I wanted it. Believe me I was going back and forth from the living room to the kitchen trying not to. The flavor of the matcha was the star, most of all the velvety smoothness of that mousse had me hooked. In addition, the longer it was out of fridge the softer, tastier and creamier it became. It was hands down the best mousse cake I’ve had thus far.

I’ll definitely be back at A La Mousse for more matcha mousse cake and another matcha dessert, maybe a milkshake.
