Second Year Anniversary

Second Year Anniversary

Last week was Memorial Day and I did the absolute most on the weekend! I celebrated not only the long weekend, but also my second year anniversary with my wife. Although I must admit that sometimes it feels a bit surreal that I am married, much less for two {2} years. In all honesty, I can hardly commit to a gym membership, but here I am in a committed relationship. To be fair though, I am overly sentimental, and hold on to goods things for as long as I possibly can.

Well the great thing about her is that she’s the funniest person I know {second to my dad} and I love to laugh. I even laugh when I’m uncomfortable, and secretly {not so secret anymore} at things that shouldn’t be funny. Qi’s also the goofiest, most sincere, honest person and the only one I can truly be myself with {flaws and all}. We’re both Aries so we have similar traits, which obviously has it’s pros and cons, but we make it work.

Believe it or not, we met online! A few weeks after chatting we met in person and went bowling. It was our first date, so I’ll always remember it. Plus I won a couple times, which wasn’t bad for a first timer, though she still believes I tricked her lol. I really didn’t though, I’m just a fast learner.

We were married on May 27, 2016, during a small and perfect ceremony, with our closest family and friends. Which was exactly what we wanted. Even though I’m a pastry chef who caters weddings and large events, I prefer small and intimate weddings. Moreover it’s totally budget friendly. My most expensive purchase were my shoes, no surprise there!

Now that you know a little about us, let’s get into how we spent our special day. First of all we started on Saturday afternoon, after filming an upcoming dessert vlog with Jae Rich. At the spur of the moment we decided to go to Sampan Restaurant, where we dined al fresco {I love saying that in a foreign accent of course}. This is especially relevant, they had happy hour on a SATURDAY with delicious dishes starting at $3! Naturally we ordered half the menu with drinks of course. The food was fabulous, so was the service.

While heading back to my car, we bumped into a friend of mine. She insisted to take Qi and I to Time Restaurant in celebration of our upcoming anniversary. There I saw another friend and we all just had way too many gin cocktails. The only thing that saved us was the fact that I couldn’t use the parking app to extend my time for the seventh time. Thank goodness!

On Sunday, our anniversary day, we had a pretty chill day, which was great, considering our eventful Saturday. Qi had made all the arrangements, only because we take turns, last year was all me, this year was her turn. She had made reservations at the beautiful South Restaurant for my favorite time of the day; BRUNCH. I truly enjoy brunch, I mean what’s not to love about bottomless mimosas and french toast?! South’s industrial space filled with botanicals which made it look like a garden, gave me all the feels. I’m a sucker for decor and they nailed it, plus the jazz performance with a song dedicated to us won me over.

Before I wrap it up, let’s get into my outfit for a bit. I really wanted to wear blue, as it was one of our wedding colors. I had no luck online, mainly because I waited too long to look. After another filming of my dessert vlog, I went to the mall to my new favorite store; Bloomingdales. There I found the dress that not only gave me “romance” vibes, but also was available in my size and on sale! I totally went over board and picked up a few pieces, before deciding that I needed a new bag. Typically, I’m not a spontaneous shopper, but this sale was fabulous, so I indulged. I’ve been eyeing straw bags for a while now, and when I saw this, I knew it was meant to be.

Now, which shoes? Convincing myself not to buy new shoes took a few minutes, but I got it done. Once I was home, I checked my shoes closet to see my “nude” options and went with these strappy heels. At times I get pulled into the bohemian style, thus I embraced this look, with my imprint on it.

Initially my little photo shoot was supposed to happen at the park, but South’s beautiful landscape was everything!

After South we went home, due to the fact that it was a rainy windy day. Nevertheless we relaxed, watched movies and enjoyed the rest of our special day.

It was a great way to celebrate our second year anniversary, impromptu food finds and all, which is totally us; “Q and A”!

P.S. Qi doesn’t like being in front of the camera {she’s the person behind all my beautiful photos} therefore she won’t be on here.
