Wearing White In Fall

Wearing White In Fall

There’s a certain fashion faux pas that has been plaguing us for about a century now; no white after Labor day. To be completely honest I’ve fallen victim to following this much outdated rule. The problem with this is that white is in the top five {5} of my favorite colors. So you can imagine how hard it is for me not to be able to wear white all year round. Well gone are the days that I feel the need to torture myself and subdue to the rule of not wearing white in fall.

First and foremost I love the color white because of how light and airy it is. It’s easy to style and most significantly, it just really makes my life much more of a breeze. During the summer season, I wear white 70% of the time, be it a swimsuit, sundress or my personal favorite white tee with a pair of shorts. White just works well with most pieces in my wardrobe.

Tips On Wearing White In Fall

Now, let’s talk about why it is certainly okay for you to wear white in fall or winter for that matter.

  1.  The rule is outdated.
  2.  Mixing different textures like wool and cashmere during the colder seasons add chicness to your outfit.
  3.  Adding the latest Fall trending styles like a Pantone color or a type of shoes will keep your look fresh.
  4.  Wearing your favorite white summer dress with a motor jacket or trench coat is a great way to transition to the cooler Fall temperatures.
  5.  Of course if you’re still not truly comfortable with donning a full head-to-toe white outfit, you can always take baby steps and start by accessorizing, like with a handbag.
  6. Whether you choose an all white outfit, white bag, white shoes or white sunglasses, the most important rule is to wear what you love!

My Style

I wore this outfit this past weekend on a beautiful 76 degrees Fall day while on a date with the wife. So instead of peep toed boots, I opted for a pair of black sandals, a color that never goes out of style. Plus adding my new favorite gray faux leather draped jacket took the look from borderline Summer to full on Fall transition outfit. In addition the jacket added a layered look to the outfit, which is a key part of any Fall look. I finished the look with a black satchel bag. In essence, pairing a full white outfit with darker pieces or accessories makes for not only an iconic look, but also effortless style. Clearly opposites do attract.
